RICHARD SOARES Motorcycle builder/owner of Stunata Customs |
|
Since a early age Richard has been working on anything with wheels. From Cars, Airplanes, Hot Rods to Motorcycles today. Richard has advanced to the position of owning his own shop. Motorcycles are the only priority at Stunata Customs, and have been to Richard since 1993. Richard's opinion is, "from the time the customer walks thru the door he or she should be treated with respect and the same goes for their motorcycle". There are a lot of shops out there today, and even more talkers. At Stunata Customs we say "Do it", "Then talk about it." About the builder Originally from North Attleboro, MA. Richard decided to move out west, and enrolled himself in Motorcycle Mechanics Institute's Harley tech. program. After graduation Richard started working in a after market shop in 1993. Richard worked on new Harley's, old Shovels, Pans, Iron Heads, and that thing dug out from behind the barn that resembles a motorcycle. It was not un-common to hear from his boss "Here you go Richie here's another one for ya, make it run." After years of working in a after market service shop Richard decided to leave and work for a High line Custom Shop. Richard was hired by a custom motorcycle builder. Not knowing much about "Real" or "True" custom motorcycles, Richard learned about the custom M.C., and the industry. The difference was a whole different type of motorcycle and customer. While employed Richard's main job was to assemble motorcycles. Duties included, eng. work, wiring, M.C. mock up, and also coming up with a couple of parts on his own. Richard learned what a ground up custom bike build requires. One thing that he learned while employed there is that a custom motorcycle requires creativity, also being different from everyone else can definitely be a benefit to a custom bike shop. 2004 Richard decided to end his employment, He took the need to be creative to build his own custom bikes with him. Richard worked as a custom motorcycle builder for Rick Hatch. The owner of a huge Harley Davidson dealership Rick Hatch hired Richard as a contractor to build custom one-off customs on a budget. As of April 1st 2006 Richard is now on his own with nothing or no one to stand in his way. If you want a builder who likes customer input, and builds every motorcycle as if it was his own Richard is someone who you want to do business with. |
